Tempe South Rotarian John Dickson answers the plea of ASU Rotaractors!
Cole Wirpel and Kathryn Scheckel of the ASU Rotaract Club came to our meeting and made a request for donations to fund the travel expense of their professor to accompany them to a Global Studies conference that they and 13 other students were scheduled to attend. Due to program budget cuts, their professor did not have funding to pay for the trip. As a result, the whole group was going to have to cancel the trip.
John Dickson stepped up and offered to pay the full cost of the professors; travel expense. Chris Sar delivered the $2500 to the ASU Rotaract club at their meeting on February 11, 209.
While at the ASU Rotaract meeting, Chris learned of other interesting projects they were working on: Polio Plus Pizza Party (PPPP) fundraiser, support of school development/scholarships in Malawi, and students participating in the construction of a school in Kenya.
