The Drive Community Garden

The Drive Community Garden (Commercial & 12th Ave) went from dream to reality in one day!!  On Sept 29/13, members of the Rotary Clubs of Vancouver, Vancouver Quadra, and Vancouver Yaletown partnered with Can You Dig It, posAbilities, Shifting Growth Garden Society, Vancity, several generous sponsors, and dedicated community members to build Phase 1 of the community garden.

Phase 1 involved site prep and building 75 movable garden beds and a community bulletin board for the garden.  The rain didn't dampen the spirit and we were entertained by some great musicians.

The Rotary Clubs presented a cheque to Shifting Growth for $6,500.  posAbilities presented a plaque to the Rotary Clubs in appreciation for their assistance with the project.  MP Joyce Murray attended the dedication ceremony.

Phase 2 will involve another 40 plus beds and is scheduled for the spring of 2014.  The Rotary Clubs have applied for grant funding from Rotary District 5040 to assist with the project.
