President Karen with Rotaractors Kate, Taylor and Sherry - trip to James Wafula Health Clinic, Uganda
Thanks again to very dedicated Rotaractors Kate, Sherry and Taylor for their interesting and inspirational presentation about the Wafula Health Clinic in Mt. Elgon, Uganda. A team of 6 Rotaractors will go to the clinic in April to help out with clinic tasks and community outreach. They will take with them 12 wheelchairs to donate to the clinic. Sherry, the Canadian Wheelchair Foundation liaison, went on a trip to Mexico when she was in an Interact Club. She said that one of the grandmothers who received a wheelchair was Sherry's AHA moment - "get a hug you won't forget". The Rotaractors have already successfully fundraised enough to help get the clinic up and running. They are now raising funds for medical supplies and eyeglasses (always needed). We are looking forward to hearing about their trip upon their return. Members of the Yaletown Club donated funds at the meeting and we are planning to hold a fundraising fellowship dinner to help out this great group of Rotaractors and their worthy cause.
