Ailsa Beischer from the Vancouver Fruit Tree Project spoke to us about her journey with VFTS. Since 1999, the organization harvests fruits from trees that would otherwise go to waste from over surplus and distributes them to people in our community affected by poverty, hunger, mental illness, or other social barriers. To date, the fruit saving project has delivered over 68,000 pounds of fruit to daycares, senior’s homes, assisted living centres, women’s shelters, community centres, and neighbourhood houses.
