Denise, Karen and Linda at the District Conference dinner

DG John Anderson hosted a great annual conference at Whistler this year.  RI director Julia Phelps brought greetings from RI President K.R. Ravindran.  The focus of the conference was on youth and we were pleased to share sessions with Rotaract and Interact club members.  Speakers included peace scholar Julia Smith, Steve Mason (Aga Khan Foundation), and Danielle Lellement (RI Membership Committee rep for Young Professionals).  Keynote speakers were Ezra Teshome (PDG District 5030) who is devoted to polio eradication and bringing clean water to Ethiopia, and Penny LeGate, Emmy award winning journalist who has worked with Rotarians (including Ezra) to tell our stories.

The conference included interesting breakout sessions, a project showcase, fellow Rotarian Nick for Rotary merchandise, and lots of fun social events.  The conference kicked off with Rotary Leadership Institute Sessions.  There were lots of opportunities for fellowship, including a great Celtic band at Merlin's Pub.  The staff at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler, and all the folks in Whistler, made us feel welcome.  Congratulations to Rick Lewall and his conference committee for doing a fantastic job.  See you again in Whistler next year for DG Lyn's conference.
