Year of the Horse and Lantern Festival celebrations with Rotary Chinatown

Happy New Year!  The Year of the Horse brings energy, wisdom and kindness.

Thanks again to President Roger and the Rotary Club of Vancouver Chinatown for the wonderful gala event to celebrate Chinese New Year, the Lantern Festival, and Valentine's Day!!!  Rotary Yaletown members Bette, Francois, Nancy, Carlos and member to be Holly, joined President Linda.

We were treated to a fabulous dinner by the staff at Floata Restaurant and first class entertainment including:  Lion Dance Performance, Eye-Dotting Ceremony, and musical presentations by MM Vocal Studio (Soprano Mary Ma has a fabulous voice!), the Silk Bamboo Quartet a UBC Chinese Music ensemble, and Mexican Tenor Gustavo Herrera (a standing ovation!!!).  There was a photo booth for pictures on the Great Wall of China, Chinese paper-cutting (Duanni Yi), and Kam-Chi Chan, a calligraphy artist who did fabulous hand painted creations of guest's first names.  The silent auction was, as always, busy and profitable with some good-natured one-up bidding to raise as much money as possible for Rotary Chinatown's projects.

Congratulations to President Roger and his event team.
