President Edgar with newest Club member, Bruce Gamage

Thanks to Bruce for sharing his photos and introducing us to 'Bruce' during his classification talk.  Bruce was born in Vancouver.  He has degrees in Microbiology (1984 UBC) and Nursing (1989 UBC).  He started nursing in the oncology unit at VGH.  Soon he and wife Diana had a family that demanded his attention so Bruce looked for a job with better hours.  He entered the infection control field, which assists those in the healthcare industry to avoid infections, and worked for the Centre for Disease Control.  More government funding was made available in the post-SARS era and he developed a provincial program, which he has headed for 8 years.  The programs involve education of healthcare workers.  He is part of the Provincial Infection Control Network which includes teaching, tracking infections at all BC hospitals and developing guidelines for preventing infections in hospitals.  Bruce was a Scout leader and hosted a number of Rotary exchange students (Belgium and Czechoslovakia) after his daughter went on a Rotary exchange.  He joined the Tsawwassen Rotary Club in 2011.  He recently moved to downtown Vancouver and we are fortunate to have Bruce as our newest member.  Bruce is interested in youth programs.  Welcome Bruce!  Let's put him to work!!
