World Polio Day

What a very interesting meeting this week, we covered the "World Polio Day" which took place on the 24, October. The speaker for the subject was non other than Dean Rohrs and if we needed an expert on the subject we probably had the best around. Dean has covered most of the countries where polio still exists and has on the ground experience.
After the talk and a reminder on how close we are to completing the job, Wayne Leach offered a bottle of Scotch for auction, of which the proceeds would go to the Rotary Foundation for Polio. With the help of District Governor Elect Bill Robson, we managed to raise a tidy sum of cash. The figures released were $4380.00 which translates into $15,592.00 after the Canadian Government and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation double the match. For those with calculators that equals $1039.00 per minute. Way to go team .... "We are this close."
