Debbie Davidson and Angela Goertzen from the “EVE” Project (End Violence Education) visited our Club on April 12 to give us an update on how our contribution has helped their efforts
.
They presented the details of their visit to two Kenyan villages where they met with community leaders, schools, village members, a youth detention centre and a women’s prison. They emphasized the fact that the incidence of domestic violence is directly related to the level of poverty. One key to their success is not to tell the villages what to do but to help with what the people believe are their problems and work with them to develop solutions. Since their original visits the participation rate has dramatically increased and there were many stories of success.
They thanked us for our contribution which enabled them to provide additional resources and activities.
