Joanne Morgan and Clyde Smith visited our meeting on April 26 and gave a very informative and fun presentation. They are from Joanne's company Personal Best Exercise Therapy with the vision of providing several health and wellness services under one roof. Joanne and Clyde engaged the group with the importance of heart rate and VO₂ max measurement, which refers to how much oxygen your body can absorb and use during exercise.

Their program focuses on the fact that exercise does not need to be hard work. Simple daily movements were described:
20-30 Chair to Standing
20-30 High reach above the shoulders
Balance on one leg, then the other
20-minute walk.

Keeping one’s head up when walking has a positive effect on balance and vision.

Sitting is the most significant non-activity to avoid as 55 minutes or longer reduces blood supply to the spinal column and beyond..

They also did some of the suggested exercises with the group to get the blood moving. Lift those boys! We thank them for their presentation and inspired us all.
