We had a young lady by the name of Lilianne Fuller pay us a visit to talk about a food program she is trying to raise funds for. Lilianne heard about a few children from the Nicomekl School arriving for lessons not having had breakfast that morning.
Not a girl to stand around and do nothing, she applied for a grant from our club and was subsequently awarded $3500 to assist in the drive to purchase breakfast for the kids.
On further discussion during a brief question period, the question was brought up as to why all the groups in the area, who do the same work, don't join forces and run one major group. A good question indeed.
Thank you for the talk Lilianne it sure highlighted a major problem, and reminds us as Rotarians why we do what we do.
