Our speaker today was a gentleman by the name of Mark Vending from a company called Precision Crop Tech. Mark gave a talk on the new method of crop dusting, not by aeroplane as we commonly view the process, but by Drone.
Mark pointed out the key aim is to reduce chemical loading in fields and this means reduced input costs for farmers. By targeting what is needed to effectively deliver the optimal crop, we can reduce input costs as well as speed up delivery of field treatments. This approach using high data resolution with careful mapping allows the farmer to make quick decisions. The fully customised service using UAV crop spraying allows the farmer to maximise yield and effectively frees the farmer to focus on other tasks.
