Importance of the Los Altos Rotary Endowment Impact Fund to Los Altos Rotary

The club formed the Los Altos Rotary Endowment Fund (LAREF) in 1978 to increase its charitable giving impact in the local and world community.  LAREF's Impact Fund (previously called the "corpus") is invested for growth.  As the Impact Fund grows from donations and planned gifts, its investment earnings add more funds to those the club raises through annual fundraisers. Together, all of these funds enable the club to give more grants to nonprofits, scholarships to deserving local students, and provide funding for international humanitarian projects and other charitable activities to make the world a better place.

Why Grow the Impact Fund?

The Impact Fund enables the Los Altos Rotary club to:
  • Increase its charitable impact locally and internationally
  • Provide consistent nonprofit and scholarship support, especially in difficult years like 2020 or when the club’s normal fundraisers do not do as well as expected.
  • Flexibly address important needs and priorities now and in the future. We don’t know what future needs will be, but we can be sure there will be many. Who would have ever predicted the pandemic but the club was able to provide consistent support thanks to the Impact Fund.

  • You enable the club to grow its local and global charitable impact, year after year into perpetuity
  • You will be recognized by current and future club members and the community for your generosity and farsighted vision
  • YOU financially benefit -- Donations are tax deductible and may provide other financial planning benefits
