Vision: Every Child Prepared to LearnTM We envision a time when there is no correlation between a child’s socioeconomic status and their affinity for reading. Thriving readers are best positioned to pursue their dreams. Mission: We aim to close the literacy gap for underserved children, birth to Pre-Kindergarten, in Los Altos and neighboring communities. How: Build a Culture of Reading Around Each ChildTM Studies confirm that a child’s brain achieves 90% of its development by 5! Marginalized parents struggle with burdens on their time: multiple jobs, financial stress, etc. Reading with their child is a luxury. By Kindergarten, their kids are already behind their more privileged peers. BooksPlus helps families incorporate reading in the fabric of daily life at school, at home, or amongst friends. BooksPlus partners with preschools and agencies to deliver workshops, books, totes, etc., to parents and their children.
