Scott Schumacher enters his seventh season as the Buccaneers athletic director and head men's basketball coach.

During 2017-18 Schumacher oversaw a Buccaneer athletic department that captured national championships in cheer and dance, and saw its volleyball, women's basketball, men's basketball, softball, and baseball teams make trips to the Region XIV tournament, and its football team play in the El Toro Bowl. Blinn has captured 38 national championships since 1987 and 12 national championships under Schumacher while appearing in 15 national tournaments.

Under Schumacher's direction, the 2017-18 men's basketball team finished the season with a 20-12 record and a second-place finish in the NJCAA Region XIV-South Division.

In 28 years as a junior college head coach, Schumacher has compiled a career record of 539-327. He has led three different junior college programs to a conference championship and a top 10 national ranking in the NJCAA polls. Schumacher has been coaching basketball at the collegiate level for 31 years and has been an athletic director for the last nine.

Twenty-four of 28 years have been spent as a head basketball coach in the Region XIV Conference. Schumacher previously coached league rivals Paris Junior College and Kilgore College, and is the only coach in TEAC history to lead two different programs to a conference championship. Prior to Blinn College, Schumacher was the athletic director and head basketball coach at North Dakota State College of Science, leading the Wildcats to a national tournament bid and three conference championships.

Schumacher has coached 12 NJCAA All-Americans with more than 80 of his players signing Division I scholarships and more than 25 of his players have gone on to play professionally. He has had the privilege to coach an SEC conference player of the year, a Big 12 Tournament MVP, a Big Sky Tournament MVP, and an NCAA slam dunk champion.

In addition to his duties as a head coach, Schumacher has also served two terms as president of the NJCAA Basketball Coaches Association, a position voted upon by his colleagues. During his time with the association, he was the committee chair for the NJCAA Basketball Coaches Hall of Fame selection committee. As the president, he began the NJCAA Basketball Coaches All-Star game, which is now played during the prestigious basketball coaching clinic held annually in Las Vegas. For his work, the Scott Schumacher Sportsmanship Award is given annually to an all-star participant. He is currently serving on the Board of Directors for the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.

From 2005-09, Schumacher served on the USA Basketball Collegiate Selection Committee along with coaching legends such as the University of Kansas head coach Bill Self, Syracuse head coach Jim Boeheim, and Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo.

Schumacher's father is a former superintendent at nearby Waller ISD, where Schumacher's mother also taught. Schumacher's parents both live in Houston. Scott and his wife, Lisa, are the proud parents of three children: Ross, Lonna and Alec
