We were still under a coronavirus lockdown this month and displaced from the Tomball Community Center.  Rotarian Lenny Gonzales graciously allowed us the use of the conference rooms at Honda of Tomball for in-person meetings and we continued to have a few members join in via Zoom.  Next month we look forward to being back at our home at the Tomball Community Center where we will again welcome all who wish to join in on the fun.

Here is a recap of this past month's events.
9/2/2020 Club Meeting- Honda of Tomball
We were honored to have District Governor Scott Rainey with us today. His presentation was enthusiastic and impactful. This is going to be a great year for Rotary District 5890. One of the big news is that Polio has been eradicated from te continent of Africa. Scott also awarded a 6 time Paul Harris pin to Tony Sortino.

9/9/2020 Club Meeting- Honda of Tomball
This meeting saw the return of PickEm for the football season! We also finalized our fundraiser benefitting the Tomball VFW. Great to see Bob Schumacher and Sandy Krug back in person again!

9/12/2020 VFW Fundraiser
Tomball Rotary Club held a fundraiser for our local VFW Post #2427.  They were slammed hard by COVID-19 and were unable to raise funds for needed programs.  We held a benefit that raise money for them thru the purchase of BBQ plates.  We were able to present the funds raised to the VFW at our next meeting!

9/16/2020 Club Meeting- Honda of Tomball
We were so excited to present the Tomball VFW a check for $5,000 from the proceeds of our BBQ chicken dinner fundraiser! It was wonderful to have a couple of members from the VFW to receive the check.
Dr. Azimuddin from Methodist Hospital Willowbrook did a great presentation on his book about being a refugee as a child during the Indo-Pakastani war of 1965.

9/23/2020 Club Meeting- Honda of Tomball
TSA brought a dog that works the airport looking for bombs. A handler, department head and Spot did an amazing presentation on what they do every day. We learned that they need volunteers to help keep the dogs trained for evolving threats. Volunteers act as decoys. This is an incredible opportunity to contribute to the safety of the US.

9/30/2020 Club Assembly Meeting- Honda of Tomball
Club Assembly Day means no speakers, but still some excitement!  Today we inducted two new members and discussed how the next few months will be looking.  We are still holding out hope our November 7th Big Show at the Depot and Fish Fry will happen, and we look forward to assisting the Tomball Emergency Assistance Ministries with the fish fry on October 17th.

If you are interested in joining the Rotary Club of Tomball and have a heart or willingness to serve others please join us for the fun at our future meetings!  We look forward to seeing you!
