"We cannot tell what lies ahead. It may be that even greater ordeals lie before us.  We shall face whatever is coming...The right to guide the course of world history is the noblest prize of victory." Sir Winston S. Churchill: August 20, 1940 - 'The Few'

Great grandson of Sir Winston Churchhill

Jonathan Sandys, a great-grandson of Britain's wartime Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill, was the speaker at the club's March 31 meeting and presented a very enlightening and attention grabbing presentation about his great grandfather to the club.  Jonathan is an international public speaker on the life and times of his illustrious relative and the impact Sir Winston still has on the world today.

"History honors my great-grandfather as a hero, but despite the accolade, the world today has forgotten many of the vital lessons he taught and the prophetic warnings he shared."

Jonathan believes his mission is to continue the amazing legacy Sir Winston left the world, and work with both the present and future generations to inspire the great leadership and courageous qualities employed by his great-grandfather throughout his tumultuous life. "I am always thrilled to speak to the many varieties of organizations throughout the world, and share the stories I learned as a child of the hero whose example I have been inspired to follow and emulate."

The legacy of Sir Winston Churchill and the Second World War is legendary, but most are unaware of the many struggles Churchill faced throughout his life, especially as a child in his personal relationships, and schooling. Over his fifty-year political career, Churchill was ostracized by colleagues who called him a crank and rejected by many who he had once considered friends. He stood for what he believed in and truly represented the people who had elected him. Churchill's courage and determination enabled the British to stand firm against Hitler and the Nazis, even when France surrendered and Britain stood alone.

The example of Sir Winston Churchill is a legacy of success and stands as a demonstration of how one man's determination in the face of defeat can change a world forever. From birth to death, with stories known and unknown, Sir Winston Churchill came to life again through the words of his great-grandson. Jonathan tailor-makes each speech for his audience, covering topics such as: Churchill's early life, leadership skills, military and political careers, family life, and of course, one of his most popular subjects, Churchill's wit and wisdom. Jonathan's energy, enthusiasm and knowledge of his great-grandfather has helped influence the lives of many he has addressed and he has been privileged to speak on behalf of and/or to over two-hundred great organizations. To name a few: NASA The Churchill Centre, Memorial Hermann Health System, Westminster College, Fulton, Missouri, The British American Business Group (BABG), and the American Aeronautics and Astronautics Association (AIAA).

"My great-grandfather inspired others through the power of his words, it is my greatest ambition to do likewise and in doing so, pass on the greatest gift any human being can possess; knowledge."

Now living in Houston, Texas, Jonathan travels worldwide offering speeches to audiences of all ages and backgrounds, he can be found on Facebook, Twitter, Linked In, and many other social networks.
