Members of the Rotary Club of La Porte served breakfast to the James H. Baker Sixth Grade Campus staff on their first day back at work after the holidays, Jan. 6.
The Rotary Club serves as Baker's Partner in Education through the La Porte ISD Partners in Education program. The club served breakfast to the staff at the start of the school year as well as a pizza dinner prior to the campus's Family Night activities. In addition, Rotarians served as judges for the staff's holiday desk-decorating contest.
The Rotary Club also provided additional school supplies, including much-needed composition books, for Baker students, science experiment supplies requested by Baker teachers, and a basket for the Family Night silent auction. In addition, Rotary provided gift cards for the school administration to use as attendance incentives for students.
Rotarians also plan to judge the school's upcoming Staff Chili Cookoff, serve ice cream to students and staff during Field Day, and more. Rotary also sponsors the EarlyAct Club at the campus.
