EarlyAct FirstKnight (EAFK) Character Education Curriculum is a daily ethics development program which is sponsored by the Kingwood Rotary Club for 100% of the 600+  Kindergarten-5th grade students at Bear Branch Elementary School here in Kingwood.  The 2020-2021 school year will be the 10th school year that Kingwood Rotary Club has sponsored this program at Bear Branch Elementary.  Since 2011, including this school year, Kingwood Rotary Club will have invested a total of around $60,000 for this character development program to help improve the student's academic scores, and build strong ethics in the hearts and minds of the students.

Above is a video produced by the Georgetown Rotary Club about EAFK and features principals, teachers, students and parents talking about EAFK and is exactly the same as our program at Bear Branch Elementary School and gives you insight into the program

Kingwood Rotary Club's "Flags Across Kingwood" Flag Lease Fundraiser provides us with the majority of the $6,000.00 to sponsor this program.  Our Community Partners, Alspaugh's Ace Hardware, Sandi Nizzi with Realty Associates, and Blue Tide Shipping also contribute funds, plus we receive a District Grant from Rotary District 5890.

EarlyAct FirstKnight (EAFK) is a curriculum-based character education program which is themed around history’s champions of chivalry; role models of various eras and cultures who lived by personal codes of high ethical standards and performed extraordinary deeds of service to humanity.

In the last 9 school years, Kingwood Rotary has honored 1,674 Bear Branch Students for having outstanding morals and ethics.  At a cost of over $6,000 per school year, Kingwood Rotary is investing our funds and taking an active role to teach students the importance of being honest, responsible, and confident students.

EAFK motivates and teaches elementary children to become civil, service-oriented people during their most formative years.

While all students at Bear Branch will have the 10-minute daily EAFK curriculum, this school year we'll once again hold six Knighting Ceremonies where one student from each of the 31 classrooms, plus one staff member, will become members of the exclusive "Gallery of Champions".  In total, 186 students, plus 6 staff members this school year will earn this prestigious honor, and we'll also have the opportunity to recognize their families during the Knighting Ceremonies.

Funding for EAFK is from Kingwood Rotary's "Flags Across Kingwood" Fundraiser.  Please click here for a link to a subscription form.
