Rotary Club of Houston Westchase is a member club of District 5890 of Rotary International. Chartered on April 23, 1983, with 23 initial members and grew to 40 members that year, the Westchase Rotary Club (WRC) was the 50th member club for District 5890.
Presently we have 12 active members (as of July 1, 2021) and 3 honorary members.
Charities that our club has supported over the years include: The Rotary Foundation, RI Polio Plus, Boys & Girls Club of Greater Houston, Cenikor Kids Care, YMCA, WHAM (West Houston Assistance Ministries, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards, School cloths and Backpacks program, however, Rotary Club of Houston Westchase is primarily focuses on supporting college scholarship thru The Rotary Club of Westchase Charity, Inc.
The Rotary Club of Westchase Charity, Inc. a 501(c)(3) entity was formed September 9, 1985, with sole purpose to fund student scholarship to graduating student to pursue higher education of their choice.
Presently we award 17 scholarships to graduating college bound seniors from Alief ISD, Spring Branch ISD and Lutheran North High School. These are $1,000.00 per year for four year per student- total of $4,000.00 per student- scholarships.
HWRC members participate and organizes various fund-raising events to support this worthy cause, including Flag Over West Houston annual membership programs in Briar Grove Park, Lakeside Estate and adjacent neighborhood. HWRC members will place 3’ x 5’ American Flags in the front yard of the residence or Place of business five times a year and provide an opportunity to show subscriber’s patriotism. The fund generated allows HWRC to support various community programs including student scholarships program.
