Through the Positive Parenting Program, Aida Black, Ph.D. encourages parents to build positive relationships with their children.
 
 
Dr. Black earned a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from Sam Houston State University. She holds a Ph.D in Counseling Psychology from Walden University. She has worked for Child Protective Services (CPS), the Harris County Juvenile Probation Department, and DePelchin Children's Center.
 
Currently, Dr. Black is teaching the Triple P Program. The free, six-week course meets once a week and is offered in Spanish and in English. Who should take the course? Parents who need to fulfill a court mandate should take the course. Parents and guardians in the community who want to strengthen their relationships with their children should take the course. 
 
Dr. Black left Rotarians with the following parenting tips:
1. Understand your child's development. 
2. Be consistent with discipline. Make simple and fair rules. Then, enforce them.
3. Listen to your children.
4. Create a positive learning environment.
