Our 19 February Programme:

Our 26 February Programme:
On Monday, 26 February our speaker will be Bern Grush. Bern is a Systems Design Engineer (University of Waterloo) and the Toronto author of an authoritative two-part report titled “Ontario Must Prepare for Vehicle Automation,” that was called “a fascinating and carefully argued report” in a Maclean’s Editorial in November of 2016.

Most of us are aware of the frequent news and hype about self-driving vehicles in the daily media. He will speak to us about whether this new technology is coming soon, and what impact this will have on public transit, parking, congestion, and sprawl. Will this be good or bad?  Will we want to own one or use on-demand robotic taxi and shuttle services? Come and find out whether you should expand your garage or convert it to a spare bedroom.

Bern’s talk is called: “Automated Vehicles: Sooner or Later? Good or Bad? Yours or Theirs?”

We will be meeting at the London Convention Centre at 12 noon in Salon B,B1 on the ground floor.

50/50 Draw
$101.00 as of 12 February  - only 32 cards left in the deck.
Greeters for Monday 26 February:
John Boyne and Michelle Foote.

Greeters for Monday, 5 March will be John Eberhard and John Kozoriz

Rotary News Today

February is Rotary  Peace and Conflict Prevention/Resolution Month
Of the 60 million people displaced by armed conflict or persecution, 90% are civilians. Half of those civilians are children. That’s millions of reasons why Rotary is so engaged in service projects, fellowships and other Rotary-sponsored campaigns in pursuit of peace in our world.

We train adults and young leaders to prevent and mediate conflict. We aid refugees who have fled dangerous areas. Rotarians also address the underlying structural causes of conflict by relieving millions of people suffering from poverty, inequality, ethnic tensions, lack of access to education and unequal distribution of resources.

In yet another program to achieve worldwide peace, up to 100 Rotary Peace Fellows are selected to attend Rotary Peace Centers to participate in master's degree programs at one of the partner universities. Rotary Peace Fellows study subjects related to the root causes of conflict and explore innovative solutions that address real-world needs. There are more than 1,000 peace fellowship alumni are working in over 100 countries.

Invite others to join Rotary and help spread peace around the world.
