Ed Johnson - Mn Adult and Teen Challenge
The Adult and Teen Challenge Minnesota organization has 11 residential centers and is the largest non-profit organization in the world. It boasts a steady growth year-over-year. Ed shared that 68,000 people died in 2008 from an overdose and that alcohol remains the number 1 addiction. Ed also shared that 130 people a day die from opioid overdoses.
His program is unique in that they actively go into the community and look for people in need of help. They have a specific veteran community that they serve and several different types of treatment programs, the longest being 12 months and beyond. The program also has a choir program and travel around the community singing in churches and sharing information about their services.
