Mentoring Opportunity for Upcoming School Year
Jodi Olson, Wayzata Public Schools - Community Engagement & Partnerships Coordinator updated the Wayzata Rotary Board on August 14 about the upcoming school year and pilot mentoring program that will begin this year. Wayzata High School will be partnering with Great Expectations and IOCP, as well as Wayzata Rotary to mentor 25-30 students at Wayzata High School this year.The program will run November - May and will comprise of two 1-hour Friday morning classes per month. The focus will be on Relationship Mentoring and will focus on students missing academic benchmarks, those suffering from poverty, and students of color. The program will be for Juniors and Seniors and the curriculum will be created by Wayzata High School. Great Expectations has worked closely with Mentor Minnesota to create the framework for the initiative and is really excited to have a structure and program ready to launch this fall.
