Thanks to a dedicated club members, the Rotary Club of Wayzata Memorial Education Foundation has been and will continue to be a viable source of student support which we should all be very proud of. To date our club has provided about $550,000 in scholarships, and has $456,000 under management! Donations and bequests are gratefully accepted for this scholarship program.

Bruce Lea chairs this foundation. Currently the WMEF funds 16 $1000 scholarships for local students. This program helped launch an International Peace Fellow Scholarship recipient in 2013. 

 

The Wayzata Rotary Charitable Foundation is a 501c3 organization established in 2013 to extend Wayzata Rotary's charitable giving into the community while providing donors the possibility of tax deductions with contributions, and allows event sponsors to contribute to community causes expense free.  This foundation distributes $10,000-15,000 in community grant funds annually to local organizations; the WRCF board approves grants recommended by the Grants Committee and distributes these funds. Sources of income are the annual Christmas party, car show, happy bucks, and weekly raffle. Current WRCF board officers and directors are Mark Lauffenburger (President), Tom Medcalf (Treasurer), Jason Griep (Secretary), Gerry Asplund and Kelly Sater. The WRCF is grateful for all donations, which provide for meaningful investments in the Wayzata community. Contributions are not qualifying donations for the Paul Harris Society. 

 

The Rotary Foundation (TRF) is celebrating its 100th birthday after being founded in 1916 by Rotary International, and is consistently rated as one of the top 10 foundations in the world for fiscal responsibility. TRF is an independent foundation run by an outside board of international trustees; its mission is "Doing Good in the World." Over three billion dollars have been granted by TRF over the past 100 years, directed at six areas of investment: Promoting Peace, Fighting Disease, Providing Clean Water, Saving Mothers and Children, Supporting Education, and Growing Local Economies. At the Club level we benefit from TRF via 3.5X matching grants for our locally driven projects. For example, our $15,000 club donation to the dental clinic in the Dominican Republic was matched by $55,000 through TRF, allowing us to open the doors to a facility that is providing dental care for the first time ever in an unserved area. Rotary asks each club member to donate $1/day, or $365/year to TRF, providing an effective way for each of us and our club to make an impact on others around the world. Contributions to TRF qualify donors for Paul Harris Society membership.
