June 8th Meeting Preview
Hennepin Theatre Trust & Host Amy Schuett
At our meeting, we will be learning more about a very special performance of The Lion King from a representative of the Hennepin Theatre Trust.
Hennepin Theatre Trust brings more than 500,000 people downtown annually to enjoy some of the best in live theatrical entertainment. While many people experience these events, some in the community do not have access to them because of the unique challenges they face in attending public performances.
The Trust is offering a sensory-friendly performance of Disney's The Lion King. This performance is specifically designed for individuals with sensory, social and learning disabilities and their families. It marks the first sensory-friendly performance of a touring Broadway show in Minnesota. This special show provides families the opportunity to enjoy live theatre in a welcoming and supportive environment — something that is often out of reach, as performance spaces may not typically offer a comfortable space for them. An advisory committee of local Minnesota educators, therapists and community experts are working with Disney and the Trust to bring this performance to life.
