STRIVE Update from Norrie Thomas
We had a productive meeting with TwinWest. TwinWest will highlight the mentor program in their weekly newsletter with a view toward adding more mentors. We are up to 10 mentors, so we will move forward with our first meeting toward the end of November. We are still hoping to find 7 more mentors, so it isn't too late to sign up!
TwinWest has two programs that seem very beneficial for students that we may add to our "curriculum". Jodi Olson, our liaison at Wayzata High School will review the programs. The first is a library of about 1000 mini podcasts with various business people talking about their career path and the choices they made along the way- not always a "straight path", and how they overcame obstacles- very motivating!
The second program is a resume writing software program that students may be able to use.
TwinWest VP of Education, Mandy Janssen has worked with many school districts with "STRIVE" like programs and was a wealth of information.
