Speaker Bo Kaprall and Host Tom Medcalf
Tom Medcalf brought us speaker Bo Kaprall after recently reading an article about him in the Star Tribune. Bo is an actor, producer, and comedy writer with credits including Laverne and Shirley, Cher, the Carol Burnett Show, and many more. He began in improv and theater in Chicago, got recruited to Minnesota in the 70's, and then moved to LA where he became a regular at The Comedy Store and Kentucky Fried Theater. After becoming a sought-after writer for the biggest comedy shows of the time, he returned to Wayzata to raise his family in a stable, engaging community with excellent education. He loves it here because it's so real, but with that choice came the often-tough realities of living outside the showbiz capitals of LA and NYC while pursuing a comedy career. These days Bo continues his successful career by writing "Weekend Update" for Saturday Night Live and developing and pitching new reality TV programing. His latest joy is teaming up with Steve Hansen on a now-national Comedy Screen Writing competition, where he gets to choose scripts and help talented and aspiring screen writers get their work in front of the decision makers in the entertainment industry. Host Tom Medcalf shared his vocational...he's a retired mutual fund manager who is happy to now have time for his hobbies. He recently checked a trip to Africa off his bucket list and looks forward to more travel. He enjoys having time to spend with his daughter. He has learned via computer dating that women think that men have no sense of humor, and wishes he'd learned that earlier in life! Thanks for a great program, Tom!
