Last week's meeting was our annual joint gathering with the Wayzata Chamber and the Wayzata Crime Prevention Coalition to kickoff "Night to Unite." Night to Unite is a yearly event designed to strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. Thank you to Greg Rye for hosting the meeting. Greg kicked off the meeting by thanking the great work of all our public safety personnel for their excellent and selfless work, and reminded the crowd that we need to stand up and support our public servants every day of the year, not just this day set aside to honor them. Speakers at the lunch emphazed gratitude and the great debt our communities owe our public safety personnel. Officers from Wayzata, Minnetonka, Minnetrista, Deephaven, Medina, Orono and Hennepin County were present, as well as the Wayzata Fire Department. Speakers included Chamber board chair Peter Hitch, representatives from sponsors Sears Automotive, Roger Fazenden Realtors, and The Muni, along with Mayor Ken Willcox, President of the WCPC Max Wyndham, Mn Commisioner of Public Safety Mona Dohman, Deputy Commissioner Mark Dunaski, and keynote Speaker Mike Risvold. The Jim Fish Citizen Crime Prevention Award was presented by the WCPC to Bob Nash for his outstanding service to the community.
