"The Business of College Athletics" 
George Drouches is a Minneapolis businessman who has been hired as the National Coordinator of Umpires for Division I Baseball.  George shared his insight on what goes on behind the scenes of college athletics.  The NCAA is a major profit center for the participating schools.  For example, Big Ten schools each receive $20 million just from the Big Ten Network televising.  Therefore, the pressure is on everyone involved to provide an entertaining experience to the fans.  Being an umpire in this atmosphere is more than just calling balls and strikes.  The umpires must perform to high standards, must develop professionally to keep up with rules and safety standards, and must manage the big egos and high stakes competition.
