What Do We Do in Rotary?
Following up on a year of a $45,000+ matching grant project to supply water filtration to migrant farm workers in the Dominican Republic, the International Service Committee took a year off of major grant awards to research the Future Vision program of matching grants recently rolled out by The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International and to seek out their next big project.
Wayzata Rotary Club was re-certified to apply for major matching grants for the coming year. Currently, partnerships with area clubs are being pursued to help fund equipment for a permanent dental clinic in a remote mountain village in the Dominican Republic. This is a project dear to the heart of our own Dr. Arne Kolbjornsen who has traveled there and provided dental services for several years.
- $2,000 Rotary Club of Plymouth to contribute to their matching grant project benefitting clean water in Honduras. This is a rotating joint venture among several area clubs.
- $1,750 International Village Clinic – to support preventive medical services in India
