Boise Sunrise volunteering at the Idaho Foodbank
Twenty-six members and friends of the Rotary Club of Boise Sunrise gathered at the Meridian headquarters of the Idaho Foodbank on Saturday March 15. This crew was there for 2+ hours which translates to 55 hours of goodness and tangible impact in volunteering hours.

We were briefed and then joined some other service volunteers from around the community to sort food donated by many groups through their food drives. Our job was to sort the donations by type. The bins were clearly labeled by food type, and with a hint of impending chaos and some good music playing in the background, we dove in and sorted roughly 8500 pounds of canned food as well as some boxes and bags too.

All in all, we had a great time together, and our actions had the desired impact. The food we sorted became organized so that it could be ordered and easily distributed by type to the foodbank distribution locations throughout the state. We invested time and talent today and left it better than we found it, which is what being a member of the Boise Sunrise Rotary Club is all about.
