Boise Sunrise supports the Future City competition at BSU

For the last 6 years, the Rotary Club of Boise Sunrise has financially supported the Future City competition sponsored by Discover-E and hosted on the campus of Boise State University. This year, the event was scheduled to align with Engineer Week. Boise Sunrise also supports the event in the form of providing volunteer judges to evaluate the projects done by various elementary and middle school teams from around Idaho.
Please see attached for the competition program recognizing your sponsorship in addition to a slide of all Gold sponsors shared during the morning and afternoon sessions of the competition. Also attached is a photo of the winning team, Terra Pura from Garden Valley School, who went on to compete at the national competition in Washington, D.C. earlier this week!

The engineering industry is celebrating Discover E’s Engineers Week; February 18-24. More than a week-long event, Engineers Week is a reminder of our year-round commitment to making a difference by engaging students in engineering through programs like Future City.  This year's Engineers Week theme is "Welcome to the Future", all about celebrating today’s achievements and paving the way for a brighter and more diverse future in engineering. After being part of the competition this year, it’s clear that Idaho Future City participants are excited to contribute to this future, some as engineers finding innovative solutions to global challenges and developing new technologies, products and opportunities to make our world a better place.

As Engineers Week draws to a close, we encourage you to highlight your participation in this year’s Future City competition on social media (using the #EWeek2024 hashtag) or internally to your organization.

At Boise Sunrise, we are proud to support this program and the talented and fully engaged students who spend numerous hours on their submissions for improved “Future Cities”. This is a highly impactful program that encourages these students to dive into the engineering challenges to propose solutions to issues facing the United States and the world at large. Their work is full of great ideas and is a tangible vehicle for them and for Rotary to leave it better than we found it. We applaud their vision of “Welcome to the Future”! Bravo to the Terra Pura team and we wish them luck in representing Idaho in the national competition that they have qualified for with their winning project.
