St. Luke's Health Plan

Speaker: Josh Sears, Director, Business Development

Building on more than 120 years of committed serviced to Idaho, St. Luke’s Health Plan strives to continually improve the quality, access and affordability of health care in the communities we serve. St. Luke’s Health Plan is on a bold and ambitious mission to redefine the coverage to care experience, removing barriers for both members and providers and creating a more seamless, hassle-free experience.

About Josh Sears

Josh Sears grew up wanting to teach high school English, but ended up chasing his girlfriend (now wife) to law school.   There, he was nearly – but not quite – cured of a desire to translate unnecessarily complex issues into words that real people use, and ideas they can act on.

Josh serves as Director for Business Development for the Employer Services Office at St. Luke’s Health System. His job is to ensure that employers get the most value for the care they pay St. Luke’s to provide to their employees and their families.

Josh’s expertise includes ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, the Affordable Care Act, and related benefits laws and regs.

Josh’s enthusiasm for making convoluted healthcare topics accessible has made him a popular speaker for industry, government, and community organizations across the country.

Josh is licensed to practice law in Idaho.  He received his JD from the University of Idaho.  He holds a BA in English from The College of Idaho.

Josh has served on various not-for-profit boards, including Ride for Joy, Wassmuth Center for Human Rights, Idaho Immunization Fund, and Rotary, among others; he currently serves on the Board for Boise Rock School.  He also plays drums in local band, Innocent Man, which is unintentionally nonprofit.

Josh lives in Boise with his wife, Jill, and their daughters, Josie & Norah. When not in the office, on stage, or on the road, you can find Josh and the fam camping, skiing, rafting, fishing, and otherwise traipsing around Idaho’s great outdoors with their gentle-giant golden retrievers (read: hairy children, world’s biggest lap dogs, worst watchdogs ever, etc.), Oliver & Winston.
