The Rotary Club of Kentville is committed to extending Rotary’s mission beyond local borders by participating in meaningful international service projects that improve lives in communities around the globe.

Creating Hope Around the World

Through partnerships with other Rotary clubs and through Rotary International’s global grant programs, the club helps support efforts in education, health, water and sanitation, orphan care, and more. These projects reflect Rotary’s goal of advancing international understanding, goodwill, and peace through humanitarian service. 

Early Childhood Education Support in South Africa

One of the club’s major collaborative efforts has focused on improving early childhood education in South Africa. Working alongside multiple Rotary clubs, Kentville has helped support the upgrading of programs at nursery schools, providing improved learning environments for young children. This work strengthens foundational education and supports children’s development at a critical stage of life. 

Water & Sanitation for Vulnerable Communities

Access to clean water and safe sanitation is a basic human right, yet many communities still struggle to meet that need. Rotary Kentville participates in ongoing water and sanitation projects that support orphanages and other vulnerable facilities in underserved regions. These efforts help improve health outcomes and ensure safer living conditions for children and families.

Lighting & Infrastructure Projects in Cameroon

Improving basic infrastructure can greatly enhance daily life and safety. In Cameroon, the Rotary Club of Kentville has supported a lighting project designed to provide reliable and safer illumination for schools and community spaces. Projects like this help expand opportunities for learning and community activities in environments without consistent electrical access.

 

Recycling Cooperative in Brazil

 
Through Rotary International’s Global Grant program, Kentville has been an international partner on projects like modernizing a recycling cooperative in Brazil. This project helped expand the cooperative’s capacity to manage waste more effectively, provided training and hygiene education, and strengthened the income‑generating potential of local workers — showing how environmental stewardship and economic development can go hand‑in‑hand.

Collaboration & Partnership Across Borders

Most of Kentville Rotary’s international projects are carried out in collaboration with other clubs — both locally (within Canada) and internationally. This multi‑club approach increases the impact of each project while building shared understanding and relationships across cultures. By combining resources, expertise, and volunteer support, Rotary Kentville helps bring sustainable, community‑led change to parts of the world that need it most.
