What Did You Miss – July 21, 2025 Chair: Phil Warren Visiting Rotarians: Rod McMahon (Calgary), and John MacNeil (Mud Creek) Happy $: Phyllis: Happy to celebrate Al and Edna Mutch’s 70th anniversary!! Chris: Happy to report on his grandkids – one of his granddaughters just received an athletic scholarship to attend the university of Louisiana as a runner, and his younger granddaughter who goes to Horton High School just received the highest average for her grade (11) for the third year in a row! Garth: Happy to have John MacNeil at the meeting, John is the newest member of the PWD committee and delivered a cheque for $20,000 for the committee to use for their work from the Mud Creek club. Rod: Happy to be back visiting his family and friends in the Valley. Susan: Her grandkids started playing soccer, and on Saturday night she attended the 55th reunion for her high school (Cornwallis District High School). Also happy to have Joe home! President’s Report: Phil mentioned that Alison Butler resigned from the club and expressed his gratitude on behalf of the members for all her hard work over the past couple of years. Committee Reports: Craig: Next week a member of the RCMP’s Cybercrime and Cryptocurrency Team will be presenting to the club, it is recommended to do a little bit of research beforehand to make sure you understand! Heather: The Town of Kentville is holding a community connections evening – we were invited to talk about Rotary, it is a good opportunity for membership recruitment, and to share the story of Rotary. The evening is August 12th from 5-8pm in Center Square – Heather will send out an email with more information. John MacNeil: Mentioned that Kings County Presidents meeting and the positive feedback on working together on some projects including possibly a Gala, quarterly club meetings, and a high-profile guest speaker. Club Business – President Phil Warren 
President Phil reviewed the strategic priorities from the current strategic plan, which include: - To support youth locally and internationally to achieve success in their lives.
- To provide more opportunities for vulnerable persons in the community.
- To engage members in community service projects and to increase awareness of rotary in the community as a key community service organization.
- To focus on membership engagement, retention, and attraction with the goal of being a more inclusive club that mirrors our community in age, diversity, gender, and service priorities.
- To engage Members in international service projects, in collaboration with other organizations, other Clubs, the District and Rotary International.
Concern for, and awareness of the environment shall be a guiding principle for all club activities. You can view the CURRENT STRATEGIC PLAN, to review The only addition that would be made to keep this strategic plan current for the remainder of the year, is the addition of a priority focused on the financial stability and future of the club. Treasurer Chris then briefly reviewed the end of the year financials for the club’s funds. Lastly, Phil reviewed a few additional initiatives/recommendations (especially program-related) and club members made comments and asked questions about the process and outcomes. 50/50: Rick won!
