Matt- It's his last meeting for four weeks, headed to Montreal for work on his hip, and was happy to receive assistance from Veterans Affairs for support with the costs.
Sue - having a great cruise, landing in Buenos Aires soon and spending time there and in Barbados before returning home.
Rick Ramsay- he's going to have a great happy dollar for next week!
President's Report:
Phil reported that there was no attendance at the companion club meeting, so if there is anyone interested in participating in the companion club please reach out to Phil. Phil also reminded the members of the Mud Creek trivia night, and the “Epic Day of Service” on May 16th!
Roxanne reminded the club of the Interact Easter Egg hunt (volunteers, egg cartons and other support needed!) and Charter Night on May 4th at the Kings Mutual Century Center.
Presentation: Shannon and Debra from Open Arms
Shannon began by discussing the outreach supports that they provide for people in the community who are unhoused or in precarious housing, have substance abuse issues, etc.
Debra went on to explain the shelter support that Open Arms provides, exaplined the different shelters and the types of support people get while staying in a shelter bed.
Shannon and Debra then answered questions from club members and explained that most of their shelter clients come from the Valley and that they worked with Orchard Valley United Church to offer additional shelter spaces during the wildfires in the summer.
President Phil thanked the speakers.
New Member Inductions
Donna Conrad and Melissa Whitman-Spidle were inducted as new members! Congratulations and Welcome!!
Next Dorine reviewed with the Club the new Membership handbook and discussed the new member activities.
Finally, the club did the 50/50 and Four Way Test.
