The Rotary Club of Kentville’s Rural Urban Committee is pleased to invite you to join our farmer guests at our Annual Rural Urban Dinner, taking place Thursday, November 5, at the Port Williams Community Centre. Cost per person for the turkey dinner with all the fixins' is $35.00.
This year, we are delighted to welcome Dr. Danny Silver as our guest speaker.
Artificial Intelligence is already touching many aspects of our daily lives—and agriculture is no exception. Danny’s presentation of,
A.I. Down on the Farm: What’s Real, What’s Coming and Why It Matters
will explore how AI is being used in agriculture today, what may be just over the horizon, and what these developments could mean for farmers, producers and the agricultural industry here in the Valley.
Danny Silver is Professor Emeritus and former Director of the Jodrey School of Computer Science at Acadia University. He is the founder and former Director of the Acadia Institute for Data Analytics and leads Acadia’s Lifelong Machine Learning and Reasoning research group. His research focuses on advanced machine learning and its practical applications, including more than 15 projects within Nova Scotia’s agricultural sector.
The connection between Rotary and our agricultural community has deep roots. In 1950, the Rotary Club of Kentville hosted its first “Farmers’ Dinner.” Seventy-six years later, we are proud to continue this tradition—bringing our rural and urban communities together and recognizing the tremendous importance of agriculture to the Annapolis Valley.
Thank you to our sponsors for this event Cavendish Farms, RBC, Tidal Tractor and A.C. Bishop & Company.
