outlined  the following proposal:

 

'MAKING DREAMS REAL' IN SOUTHEAST TEXAS

 

Goals Statement:

With the help of the District Attorney's Office and the Garth House, the North Port Arthur Rotary Club will associate with the Spindletop Rotary Club of Beaumont to form a committee to initiate a public awareness campaign in Southeast Texas.

 

Specifically, over a concentrated period of time the joint committee plans to:

 

1.     Inform the public, particularly young women, about the "Baby Moses" or "Safe Haven" law in Southeast.

2.    Inform the public about Shaken Baby Syndrome

3.    Develop a budget and apply for matching grants from Rotary District 5910 in conjunction with funds raised equally by both clubs.

4.    Print posters and brochures aimed at young women for distribution to schools, clinics, & other public places informing them of the law and helping them locate Safe Baby Sites.

5.    Create and distribute Public Service Announcements (PSA's) to local radio & TV Stations.

6.    Publicize the Baby Moses Law and Shaken Baby Syndrome in Central Mall, Parkdale Mall, and other forums that may be identified.

7.    Appear on morning news programs and radio talk shows to promote the campaign.

 

Assuming both clubs agree to the join together for this campaign, the committee will be comprised of at least 3 members from each club with the goal of raising $10,000.  NPARC will assume responsibility for $2,500 and Spindletop Rotary Club of Beaumont assumes responsibility for $2,500 for the advertising campaign.
