2023-24 Leadership CREF

Director, Jo Lucey

I joined Rotary in 2016 after a career in aerospace engineering (satellites and satellite operations) and a second career as an elected official in public education.  I’m the parent of two IPOs (Income Producing Offspring) whom I adore.  My husband and I love hiking and enjoy traveling.  I’ll be leading the CREF organization and look forward to working with everyone as we ‘do good in the world.’

I joined Cupertino Rotary in 2004. I spent 24 years with HP in technical and management positions, and in 2003 I founded Armstrong Retirement Planning.  I enjoy community service and over the years I have served as the President of CREF, the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce, the Silicon Valley Financial Planning Association, and as VP of the Cupertino Library Foundation.

President, Jim Davis

I joined the Cupertino Rotary in February 2019 to help the president of that year pad her new member statistics. Prior to that, for many years I volunteered for Rotary events such as Fall Fest, Golf Tournament, Rebuilding, Thanksgiving turkey delivery and Operation Snowflake. I retired in 2018 after 40 years in high tech, most recently with Microsemi Corp as the Vice President of Software Development. These days I can be found riding my road bike, playing and enjoying music, working in the yard, and having a large cat sit in my lap while reading (or anything else that requires me to sit down)

President Elect, Jeff Moe I joined Cupertino Rotary in 2012, but have been connected with Rotary all my life by virtue of my dad's life-long active involvement in Rotary.  My favorite club activities include Rebuilding Together and social events.  I service as a Trustee on the Fremont High School District board and as such am involved in school-related programs sponsored by Rotary such as the annual art exhibit and poetry contest.

Director, Joe Glynn
I joined Cupertino Rotary in 2022 after an active career with IBM and several startup ventures in the Computer Software and Technology industry. I had leadership responsibility for most aspects of global businesses while working and living in Silicon Valley and internationally. In retirement, Rotary provides an opportunity to apply my background and experience to serve our local and global community. I look forward to serving the club this year as co-chair of the Community Service Committee as well as active participation in club service projects, fellowship opportunities and serving on the CREF Board.

Administrator, Barbara McArthur
I joined Cupertino Rotary in 2011 after a career as a Human Resources executive in high tech and the food services industry. It has been very rewarding to join my fellow Cupertino Rotarians in our club’s many service projects and fundraising events.  I became a member of the Board of CREF in 2015 to assist in the work of this foundation and its financial support of Cupertino Rotary. Beginning in July 2020 I serve as Administrator, facilitating and keeping track of the many grants done by our club’s Avenue of Service committees and Board each and every year.
Treasurer Brian Rovegno
I joined Rotary in 2015 after retiring from a 42 year career in financial management as CFO of several venture-funded companies and ending as Treasurer of SRI International. For fun I ride a bike, read and hike nearby. My wife and I travel extensively. As recent grandparents we travel to LA frequently. I look forward to working with club leadership

Director, Marjorie Mancuso
I joined Cupertino Rotary in 2000 after learning about Rotary from an acquaintance. Over the years I have been involved in various capacities including Secretary and Treasurer for our Fundraisers, Secretary and Administrator for  CREF  until 2020. I have devoted so much time to the Club and CREF because I believe in what we do and learned early on how seriously the CREF Board takes their responsibility of being credible stewards with the donations we receive.

Director, Eleanor Watanabe

I was the founding executive director of the Cupertino Educational Endowment Foundation and President of Cupertino Rotary in 2002-2003.  Currently, in addition to Rotary, I am involved with several local community non-profits, however, my husband and I derive greatest joy sharing adventures with our 3 grandchildren who live nearby.  I’m looking forward to supporting our outstanding club leadership in the coming years.

Vice President and Club Past President  Steve Onishi

I joined Rotary in 2010 for the service and fellowship opportunities. After spending 27 years working in the biotech/medical device space and the past six years in the nonprofit area,  I look forward to bringing my passion to “Imagine Rotary” (this year’s Rotary international theme). We’ll turn Rotarians’ service project ideas into reality to better serve our local and global communities.

I was introduced to Rotary through another volunteer activity in 2009,  and since then I have been a member of Cupertino Rotary. Even though I am still “working”, being at Rotary is very energizing. The project ideas, the meetings, the discussions, and all aspects are very motivating and is helping me to grow as a person and give back to the local and world community while my friendship circle is expanding.  As SDO, I hope to help the club “Imagine” the possibilities for our members and the community and I am grateful for the opportunities.

Club President Alysa Sakas I  joined Rotary in 2016 after long admiring what our club does. I studied Computer Engineering at U of M (Go Blue!) -  now a retired Aerospace Systems Engineer.  I'm also active in the Cupertino-Toyokawa sister cities program and in 4H (bee keeping).  I enjoy the wide variety of activities our club has to offer, especially World Community Services,. The magnitude of each project enabled by a TRF grant is astounding, and our opportunities to travel are truly unique because we connect with people in other countries in ways beyond being traditional tourists.
