Our own PP Helene Davis introduced this week’s speaker, Mayor Steven Scharf.  Click here to see his full presentation or if you prefer you can see the unabridged version he made at City Hall by clicking here.
Following are a few highlights from his presentation at our club:
  • A recent survey listed Cupertino as the 9th best city to live in, we have top rated roads and great schools.
  • Park master plan just approved last night after lots of work by the staff and commission.
  • Working to create ELI Housing Units for Developmentally disabled as a project with Rotary
  • Goals for 2020 include sustainability, improved library parking, more affordable housing and expanding the Via Shuttle pilot
  • He introduced our new city manager, Deb Feng, she grew up in Cupertino  and now is working to keep it a great place
  • Some recent highlights include passing the Regnart Creek Trail and funding a new program room for the Library.
  • In the always asked question about Vallco, currently the SB-35 plan is moving ahead, albeit with some legal hearings coming soon and the Mayor would like to see an agreement with the city and developer that creates a plan that works for everyone.
