Bob Roney
Yosemite Bob

Bob Roney spent most of his life in Yosemite, where he worked for the National Park Service, first seasonally and later permanently, for over 45 years. He began as a seasonal firefighter, and after four years became a ranger-naturalist. During his last 30 years with the park service, he trained and mentored other rangers in the art of interpretation (helping the public connect more personally with natural and cultural resources of parks). Roney also assisted in a number of projects such as writing for wayside exhibits, developing and writing text for the new visitor center exhibits, producing the visitor center film “Spirit of Yosemite,” and writing the “Road Guide to Yosemite.”
