The Rotary Club of Beaumont, TX, is a large and diverse fellowship of inspired business, professional, and civic leaders with significant community connections that foster the ideals of Service Above Self and high ethical standards.
The theme selected for the 2019-2020 Rotary year by International President Mark Maloney is "Rotary Connects the World." You may have read a recent article posted in which he says,
"All of us are in Rotary together, whoever we are, wherever we are from, whatever language we speak or traditions we follow. We are all connected to one another — part of our communities and members not only of our clubs, but also of the global community to which we all belong. This connection is what lies at the heart of the Rotary experience. It is what brings us to Rotary. It is why we stay. Please join your fellow Rotarians on this journey as Rotary Connects the World."
It certainly is connections that lie at the heart of the experience, and connections are why members continue in the club. Connections build friendships, connections enhance our professional lives, and connections provide the opportunity to do truly impactful service in our community and in the world beyond which any one could do on our own. He urges each Rotarian to join with other members on the journey of serving others.

"Do you know that approximately 12,000 households receive food each month from ... the Southeast Texas Food Bank?" That was a fact the Board of Directors could not ignore. They designated June as "Southeast Texas Food Bank" month, and the club collected canned goods and other food items needed to feed the hungry in the area.
Two boxes of food items along with cash and some generous checks were collected.
Community Service Chair Deborah Drago delivered the donations to the agency on Thursday, July 11 and the Food Drive Coordinator Tamara Jarrell was happy to accept it.

"Let the New Year Begin!"
Installation of Board of Directors,
Officers and President Joe Domino

The meeting last week was kicked off by President Lynn Castle, who turned the meeting over to Roger McCabe. Roger proceeded with the installation of the officers and Board of Directors for the new Rotary year. He then introduced our new President - Joe Domino.
The gavel was then passed from Past-President to Past-President (there were 17 present to pass the gavel) until it reached incoming President Joe, symbolic of the rich legacy of the Club and the significant contribution of leadership of these former presidents to the current and future of Club #72.
President Joe then took the podium and thanked Lynn Castle for her service as club President in 2018-19. He then thanked Roger McCabe for performing the installation and his guidance in preparing President Joe for his service as President in the new Rotary year.
President Joe then shared the new theme for Rotary for 2019-20 – Rotary Connects the World. Through this theme, our Rotary International President, Mark Daniel Maloney, wants us to strengthen the many ways that Rotary Connects the World, building the connections that allow talented, thoughtful, and generous people to unite and take meaningful action through Rotary service.
President Joe then encouraged all members to think about how they might be able to serve in Rotary through our five "Avenues of Service," and to step up and offer to help in one of those areas at our next Rotary meeting on July 17. With your help, we can see that Rotary Connects the World through our club here in Beaumont.
