DUES INVOICING AND THE BILLING CYCLE
Rotary operates financially at the club, district, and international levels. Dues, along with contributions to the Beaumont Rotary Foundation, support the work done at each level. Dues are billed to the individual at the club level, andthe club pays District and International dues on behalf of every member who is on the membership roster on January 1 and July 1.
In order for the club to pay dues to Rotary International on January 1, each member must be up-to-date on his/her dues to the Club no later than December 31, in advance of the January 1 assessment by Rotary International.
If your July 1 dues remain unpaid on Wednesday, December 30, you will be terminated in bad-standing which means you are ineligible for membership in this or any other Rotary Club until your past due amount has been paid. If your July 1 dues were not paid on time or if you have not responded to the emails sent to you, you were sent a letter by certified mail with the past due invoice along with the new January 1 invoice by registered mail within the week. To prevent termination, you are required to pay both invoices or be automatically terminated on December 30th.
Members will notice the Room Assessment fee is charged for January-June 2021 and a credit for the July-December 2020 charge which was refunded. The Room Assessment fee is assessed to all members so that everyone - whether attending or absent, whether eating or only attending to hear the speaker - will share equally in the cost of the physical arrangements and related expenses for the weekly meetings. For the July - December 2020 semi-annual period, the club was unable to meet at the MCM Elegante and therefore the Board of Directors has issued the refund.
Electronic invoices were sent to all who are in good-standing. If you requested to have a printed invoice mailed to you, it should have been received. Please phone the office or email admin@beaumontrotaryclub.org to request a different method of billing or payment. Members with a credit card on file will receive a receipt by email when your card has been charged, or you will be contacted if your credit card information needs to be updated.
If you wish, you can submit your credit card information to be kept on file so that payments are processed for you in advance of the deadline each time. If you wish, you can make arrangements with the Executive Director to have your charge card processed for your dues in installments until the account is paid in full.

The need for assistance does not stop because the holiday passes. The Rainbow Room is processing donations to assist the Foster Children's program for the holiday season but the need to assist the children who have to be removed from their home is on-going. If you missed the opportunity to make a donation and give to the holiday drive last week, please consider the door is still open and your donations are welcomed whenever you find you are able
"The Rainbow Room is an emergency resource center available to CPS caseworkers to help them meet the critical needs of abused and neglected children. Stocked with all new items, Rainbow Rooms provide clothing, shoes, underwear, baby formula, school supplies and hygiene items to children entering foster or relative care and children in their own homes who live below the poverty line."

Last year, Child Protective Services reports working with over 2,000 families in our area. That is staggering and sad.

Holidays are more fun when you spend time in service to others! A few Rotarians, Cindy Cherry, Kevin Reed and Tim Sudela, can attest to that after spending Saturday morning delivering and setting up beds for children who have not had a bed to sleep in at night. Sleep in Heavenly Peace continues with their mission of building beds for children and teens who otherwise sleep on the floor or on a mat, or perhaps share a bed with a parent or sibling.
"Proud to be a Rotarian.. Moments like these are just a reminder that we all can give a little. Thank you to the Sleep in Heavenly Peace program for the opportunity to deliver and set up these beds for some very happy children. They were all saying Merry Christmas and loved the new beds. The beds were delivered just in time to enjoy Christmas. All pictures were given permission to post by the parents." posted Kevin Reed.

Beaumont Rotary is implementing a brand-new partnership with Lamar University SOAR Program. SOAR is an acronym for Student Occupationally and Academically Ready. Your question, what are they doing and where do I fit in? There are 4 schools in BISD that are NEST campuses, they are Pietsch MacArthur, Amelia, Charlton Pollard, and Blanchette. NEST is an acronym for Navigating Excellence Success and Triumph. The space for the NEST is provided by BISD and the NEST are staffed by volunteers from Lamar University and our local industry.
LU SOAR is made up from LU Student leaders, athletes, Lamar Rotaract, the collaborative partners which are Entergy, ExxonMobil, Mason Construction, and the newest is the Rotary Club of Beaumont. We will work with struggling readers in a non-stressful, non-intimidating way to help improve their reading skills. The virtual books are shared on the screen. We just need you to commit 15 – 30 mins where you are able. Since it is virtual, you do not have to leave your office, worksite, or home.
Lynn Hill, Rotary Goes to School Chair, says, "As soon as I am given the schedule for the needs of the time slots for the campuses, I will pass the information along to the Rotarians, and you can sign up where you can. It’s that simple. If you are not already an approved volunteer for BISD, we need volunteers to go to the website 'bmtisd.com', open your account and sign up to be a volunteer by completing the application. Make sure and check SOAR on your application so that the process is expedited for you. "An Epic Holiday Party"

The 2020 Holiday Party will go down in history as the first - and hopefully, ONLY - virtual party for the Rotary Club of Beaumont. And, it will be remembered as one of the most amazing parties too!
Chair Tim Sudela found the most "spot-on" entertainment with Mr. Scott Tokar of California. Magician Scott Tokar mesmerized the crowd with magic that was awesome!
The District 5910 Rotary Chorus added a wonderful performance near the beginning of the meeting and sang "Silent Night" to close the party. The children of Martin Elementary brought smiles to everyone's face as they shared holiday greetings from our partner school.
