Our new member, Gil Harrison was inducted today.   He was introduced to the Club by Katie.  Gil's Father was a Rotarian in Vermont.  Gil has already been involved in many  Rotary events.  Happy you are with us, Gil.    Bob did an excellent job with the induction in reminding us what Rotary is all about.

As an inspiration Gil quoted A.A. Milne: "Organization is what you do before you do something, so that when you do it, it's not all mixed up".

Guests today : Jim Wogsland, a Rotarian from northern Idaho. Shahnaaz Shaikn, a Rotarian from Petersborough, in the UK., Tony Jennings, Gen Mgr of Roche Bobois in Littleton.  He was a guest of our speaker,

NEWS:

  • There was some confusion re: Rondee for the Board meeting on Dec. 4.  There will be no Board meeting in January, 2013. Charlie will be out of the Country.
  • Still time to register for the district Conference - there is a discount before 12/14/12.  Four former US Ambassadors will be on the panel at the conference and there is a rumor that Condalessa Rice may be there also.
  • Charlie reminded all that he has suggested that each Rotarian meet with another for coffee 5 times this year - can be used as a make-up!!
  • Barth Hotel; tree trimming DECEMBER 12!  Please use the EVITE to respond.
  • It was suggested that we have another Urban Peak event.
  • The Club hopes to get a good digital format of our LOGO to be used on different  things.

Sgt @ Arms:  Leif has been carried away with his Christmas Lights - maybe we should drive by to see them!   Bob found inspiration in Jimmy Valvano's speech in which he encourages everyone to do three things each day, ie: Laugh, think and cry.  Charlie was sorry to have missed Steve's (S E Rotary Club) invitation  to the IDE luncheon that featured surprise guest Bill Clinton.

Guest speaker, Corrine Joy Brown spoke of her numerous talents, interests and endeavors.  She and her husband own International Design Roche Bobois. She  decided to venture out and  follow a dream of writing.  She has become a successful writer of many books on the interesting events & people in the history of Colorado.  We all enjoyed her talk so much that we are hoping Leif  can bring her back for another program.

Thanks, Gil for taking notes today.
