On a recent Saturday, members of the Rotary Club of Littleton volunteered to help TLC Meals on Wheels (MoW) clients by cleaning up their yards.  Approximately 20 volunteers brought their tools, gloves, raking, and tree trimming skills spent the morning working in the yards of two senior TLC MoW clients.

The first home required a lot of tree trimming and raking. TLC client Ardene, who will be 97 in July, came outside to show the volunteers what, how, and where work needed to be done. As she said with a smile “People think at 96 I don’t have an opinion, but I have a lot of opinions.”

The second home belonged to Sharon, aged 79. Unable to stand for any length of time, she was able to watch the volunteers in her back yard from her kitchen windows and opened the back door to say “Hello” and share how grateful she was for everyone’s help.

Both ladies have lived in their homes for more than 50 years and their flower gardens and yards were very important to them.  The Volunteers from Littleton Rotary were helpful in giving them pride and the joy a nice yard gives them.
