Rotarian of the Day was Jerry Standridge who introduced Greg Krisseck of ICM of Wichita, KS, who talked about the benefits of Ethanol-based fuel.

Greg said there were 14 billion gallons of ethanol E-10 fuel produced in 2011, number that is expected to go up as more vehicles become flex fuel capable and the ethanol blend increases.

He said the benefits of ethanol are environmental, economic and energy security.

Grain ethanol decreases greenhouse gas emissions by almost 60 percent.

He said the ethanol industry has created a steady market for corn and other grains, helping lower federal farm program costs.

He said out of every bushel of corn 1/3 goes to ethanol, 1/3 to cattle feed and 1/3 biogenic CO2.

Thank you Greg for a very informative program.

The meeting closed with the recitation of the Rotary 4-Way Test.
