The guest speaker at the 6-16-2011 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha was City Manager and Rotarian Stewart Fairburn.

The June 16, 2011 meeting of the Rotary Club of Chickasha opened with a prayer, pledge and song.

Prayer concerns include Janice and Bill McVey.

The club has received a thank you not from Jim and Nadine Allen expressing their appreciation for the club's support in the aftermath of the May 24 tornado.

Members are asked to sign up today and next week for the June 30 installation luncheon at USAO.

There will be a board meeting Friday, June 24 at the community room of First National Bank of Chickasha.

Rotarian and City Manager Stewart Fairburn filled in at the last minute as our speaker. He gave club members an overview for the City of Chickasha budget plans for the fiscal year 2011-2012.

The budget for next year is $10.05 million. The City Council is expected to vote on it at its June 20 meeting.

Fairburn said the budget includes no new city employees but includes money for what says will allow the city to better communicate with residents, including a citizen survey, an upgraded, more inter-active website and a newsletter six times years.

Money is included for demolishing dilapidated buildings in the city, the purchase of new heavy equipment and for making improvements downtown and in city parks.

He also said plans are being made to have some "fun" promotions at the air port, including fly ins of vintage aircraft.

Stewart closed his presentation by answering an array of questions from members.

Thank you for an informative program, Stewart.
