Street Spirits

Andrew Burton, Artistic Director of Street Spirits presented an interesting talk regarding "Street Spirits Theatre Company" to the Nechako Rotary Club on December 2nd, 2009. Street Spirits is an established youth driven social action theatre program, operating since 1999, providing performances, workshops and special events in BC and across North America. Street Spirits works with youth from the community to develop a positive peer culture around the concepts of social responsibility and community action. Youths can join Street Spirit as early as age 13. Senior members can take leadership roles in the program. The program is funded through a variety of sources including donations, revenue from performances and workshops and grants from government and foundations. The program is run on a volunteer basis. Andrew was thanked by Rotarian Adele Sjoberg, with a donation to our Shelter Box Canada Program.
