Prince George Farmer's Market

The Nechako Rotary Club were treated to an interesting presentation about the Prince George Farmer's Market this morning.
Nancy Krushelnicki is a member and promoter of our Prince George Farmer's Market.
Nancy indicated that the local Farmer's Market was created in Prince George in 1994 with only 10 vender's in the association. Today there is over 80 vender's that use and support the Market as a means of providing direct access to producers in and around Prince George.
Farmers Markets are a growth industry in BC designed to allow the consumer public to shop for home grown and manufactured products directly.
There is approximately 160 Farmers Markets throughout BC.
The Motto of the Farmer's Market is: Make it; Bake it or Grow it.
These vender's are selling their produce to meet the needs of their customers and will try to accommodate special needs and requests, including Gluten Free products and corn free Honey.
There is a limited supply of fresh produce in Prince George available to the consumer and the Farmer's Market is a means of increasing this supply from local producers.
This also includes fresh meats, poultry and fish.
